The Photo Album of Ireland exhibition continued it’s tour to the wonderful Mermaid Arts Centre. The exhibition was curated by Photo Museum Ireland in partnership with Niamh O’Donnell, director of Mermaid. The works were selected to reflect the histories of local families and themes which resonate with the Decade of Centenaries commemorations.
The exhibition was supported by a series of archival scanning sessions where people from Bray and the wider Wicklow area were invited to bring their precious family photographs to the Mermaid Arts Centre for digital scanning.
Free Scanning workshop: Invitation to Scan Your Family Photos: Your Photos, Your Memories, Our History
As part of our exhibition in partnership with the Photo Museum Ireland Wicklow families were invited to take some family photographs down to Mermaid Arts Centre to have them digitally scanned. Led by digital archivists Brendan Maher and Niamh Crowley the scanning workshops took place on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 May 2016. The high quality digital files were processed and returned to the participants.
Each participant submitted a paragraph on their family to accompany the photographs in their family archives.
