This is the only known surviving photograph of John McGing as an adult. This image illustrates him in a London studio having a formal portrait taken. A sacred heart pin is visible on his jacket. It is believed that following his marriage breakdown to his Irish wife Winifred Derrig he left for London to start a new life. They had no children. He died in 1956 aged 37 of an ‘internal pain’.
